Welcome To 'Littlefort' - a small stud of Miniature Shetland Ponies with emphasis very much on 'Quality'

Littlefortstud was started in 2004 and was named after a beautiful place that we came across whilst holidaying in the wilderness of Canada.

With a life long love of horses I have kept Miniature Shetlands as companions for my riding horses for many years. My early interest in breeding resulted in a gorgeous black colt (Dougal of Red House) of Vorden Bloodlines, born 39 years ago. Family life intervened but my enthusiasm for the breed returned with a vengeance in 2004.   Many hours have been spent studying bloodlines and all my stock have excellent pedigrees, which has paid dividends by producing foals with quality and presence.  All of my ponies have been successfully shown in their early years and Littlefort ponies have gone on to new homes as Show ponies, Childrens first ponies, Companions and Family pets as well as to other breeders.  All foals are well-handled from birth, so they are very friendly and easy to handle as they mature. 

 

I breed purely for enjoyment and intend to remain small in numbers. My interest lies in colour genetics and I aim to breed  just two or three foals each year, with correct conformation and friendly temperaments being of paramount importance.  Please take a look on the relevant pages to see the current ponies kept at Littlefort.
